What is a Party Wall Award?
A Party Wall Award (sometimes referred to as a Party Wall Agreement) is a legally binding document prepared by appointed surveyor(s) under the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 where a dispute has arisen.
The Award regulates how and when notifiable works may be carried out and provides protection for both the Building Owner and the Adjoining Owner.
When is a Party Wall Award required?
A Party Wall Award is required where:

An Adjoining Owner dissents to a Party Wall Notice

No response is received within the statutory notice period

Surveyors are appointed under the Act
The Award must be served before notifiable works commence.
